Makhana Trail Mix

  • 2 cups popped makhana (fox nuts)
  • ½ cup raw almonds, roughly chopped
  • ½ cup raw cashews, halved
  • ¼ cup pumpkin seeds
  • ¼ cup sunflower seeds
  • ½ cup dried cranberries (or raisins)
  • 2 tbsp dark chocolate chips (optional)
  • 1 tbsp ghee or coconut oil
  • 1 tsp honey (optional, for a light glaze)
  • ¼ tsp sea salt
  • ⅛ tsp cinnamon powder

In a large skillet over medium heat, melt the ghee.

Add makhana, almonds, and cashews. Roast, stirring continuously, until the makhana is crisp and nuts are golden (~5–6 min).

Sprinkle in salt and cinnamon; toss to coat evenly. If using honey, drizzle it over the warm mix and stir until lightly glazed.

Transfer to a large bowl. Add pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, dried cranberries, and chocolate chips; mix gently.

Let cool completely, then store in an airtight jar. Enjoy by the handful as a mid‑day pick‑me‑up or pack it for on‑the‑go energy.
